Comment from Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev after the game against Seasters
– We need to understand the overall situation. Seasters have very skilled players who are currently among the best in the Ukrainian Championship. The foreign players are also confident and have a high psychological level because they come to a new country where they have to play, so they do it. Again, the experience of such players as Vasyliuk, Boichenko and Ivkova may have been a determining factor in the overall outcome of the match. We made mistakes and paid for them.
– Shakhtar started the match actively but could not convert the chances they created. If the team had taken advantage of those opportunities, could the game have been different?
– The team’s main task in today’s match was to score first. We wanted to do that because it is a very important factor. Perhaps if we had managed to open the scoring, the game could have turned out differently, and we might have been able to dominate. Since the first goal is often decisive, our play fell apart immediately after we conceded. During the break, we emphasized that the players should remain calm, try to control the ball, not lose it, and act as focused as possible. However, given the result, we were unable to do this.
– Three players have been called up to Ukraine WU19’s training camp. How does it affect the team and the footballers?
– A call-up to the national team is, first of all, a big advance for young players who are trying to progress. As for the influence of internationals on our team's play, of course, there is one. For example, Zaborovets, who is a player in the main squad of the youth national team, clearly impacts the style of play. I’m very glad that the girls received a call-up to Ukraine WU19 and have the opportunity to prove themselves and the club.
– A two-week break in the league is ahead. What are your plans for this period?
– The team will have three days of rest to recover, as the schedule was busy. After that, we will return to work and begin our preparations for the meeting with Ladomyr.
