Shakhtar women's team lost to Seasters on the Vyshcha League second stage MD3 in Odesa

Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev selected the following line-up for the clash with Seasters: Ustinova took the place between the sticks, Sikorska and Kotovets operated as fullbacks, Henyk and Kravchuk appeared at centre-back, Zaborovets, Myronenko and Veherych formed the midfield, Holovach and Zavidova took the attacking wings, with Chaika spearheading the attack.

An active start, but the result favours the Odesa side

The match began with a battle for the initiative, with a slight advantage for the Orange-and-Blacks, who moved faster with the ball and posed a threat to Klimova's goal. The Miners created their first truly dangerous opportunity after a corner kick, when Zaborovets sliced through the Odesa-based side’s defence line with a pass to Zavidova, but Yuliana missed the target. Then the game shifted to counterattacks, where Seasters were more successful: Nelson played a one-two with Boichenko on the wing and delivered a cross to Ivkova to finish it off. After the goal was scored, the Odesa outfit didn’t start to defend, controlled the ball more in the Miner's half of the field and threatened Ustinova's goal, using crosses and long-rangers.

Exchange of goals

After the break, both teams appeared without substitutions. The second half began with a dangerous set-piece near the penalty area from the Orange-and-Blacks, when Boichenko shot from close range, but the ball sliced from the striker's foot. However, the Odesa team managed to convert their next opportunity following a set piece: In the 53rd minute, Sonkeng sent the ball from midfield into the central semicircle, where Ivkova quickly entered the penalty area and crossed it to the unmarked Nelson, who sent it right home. The Orange-and-Blacks quickly responded with their own opportunity: Chaika converted the penalty awarded for the foul on Holovach through an accurate shot into the bottom corner. In the 68th minute, Shakhtar coaching staff refreshed the right flank of the attack with a substitution: Mostova appeared instead of Zavidova. In three minutes, the hosts could have increased the lead, but Boichenko failed to convert the penalty awarded for bringing down Ivkova. Later, coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Roman Zaiev made a double substitution, fielding Starukhina and Vykaliuk. The Miners increased their speed, but the disciplined defence of the Odesa-based side did not allow them to reach attacking position, and at the end of the match, Ivkova increased the lead of the Odesa team through a shot from outside the penalty area, capping the score.

1-3 – Shakhtar women's team lost to Seasters away. The Miners will face Ladomyr in Volodymyr on April 13.
