Shakhtar forward Eguinaldo talked about the UPL game against Obolon Kyiv (2-0)
– Shakhtar played an official match after a long break. How would you rate the game against Obolon?
– This was a very important break for us in terms of preparation and focusing on the opponent. It was also important to get the much-needed victory today, and it is good that we managed to convert our work during this break into success on the football field. We continue to move forward with our heads held high and fight for the highest goals.
– You were the one who opened the scoring in the match. Let’s recall that episode and what were your emotions after that goal?
– It was actually quite a tough game – intense one, with a lot of chances. Also, the opponent performed very well on the field at certain moments. If we look at the goal, it is the result of our synchronous work during training sessions – the things that we practised during them, so to speak, homework. I am glad that we were able to implement them in the game and get the desired result.
– As for your practice. During recent training sessions, it was noticeable that you often try to score with a header. Perhaps you intuitively felt that today you would be able to score in this way?
– Of course, everything we practise in training is done with the expectation that it can be integrated during official matches to benefit the team. I am glad that this work was not in vain, that I helped the team open the scoring and thus laid the foundation for our victory.
– How is the fight for the title perceived now?
– Of course, representing Shakhtar, we always aim to compete for the highest places. The fight continues, and we, for our part, will do everything possible in the remaining matches to prove our advantage and conquer the highest goals.
