Shakhtar faced Obolon Kyiv U19 away on the Youth League MD 22
The coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks chose the following starting line-up for the match against Obolon U19: Bahlai played in the goal, Drozd and Halonskyi acted on the defensive wings, Oharkov and Mylokost played in the centre of defence, Tsukanov, Tiutiunov and Bundash acted in midfield, Tryfanenko and Smetana appeared on the attacking wings, with Lomaha taking on the centre-forward role.
Dynamic half with goal exchange
The Orange-and-Blacks controlled the ball from the first minutes and put pressure on the White-and-Greens’ defence. Already in the 3rd minute, the Miners could have opened the scoring after a set piece, but Drozd was a few centimetres short of turning the cross home at the far post. The Brewers quickly responded with a dangerous attack with Kniaziev running in, the latter was prevented from going one on one with goalkeeper by Oharkov. In the 12th minute, after a combination attack and a pass from the wing, Tsukanov threatened Martynov’s goal, but he lacked accuracy. The Miners continued to have the initiative, combining near the opponent’s penalty area and pressing high when the ball was lost. The Pitmen opened the scoring thanks to this pressing: in the 30th minute, Lomnytskyi, under pressure from Tryfanenko, unsuccessfully cleared the ball away, and Lomaha was the first to pursue rebounds, approaching the goalkeeper and passing to Smetana for a shot. Soon the game turned into counterattacks, and the teams exchanged goals: the Brewers responded to Drozd’s tight set-piece shot with a quick attack, which was completed with a well-placed kick by former Shakhtar U19 forward Yehor Kniaziev. Towards the end of the first half, the coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks had to make a forced substitution: Zheliba replaced injured Tryfanenko on the field.
An intense ending and a winning score for the Orange-and-Blacks
In the second half, the Miners continued to have the initiative, looking for the ways to approach Martynov’s goal, while the White-and-Greens focused on counterattacks. Tsukanov was especially dangerous among the Pitmen, launched attacks and led his teammates into shooting positions, but Obolon U19 defenders blocked the attempts in time. In the 56th minute, Tiutiunov could have increased their lead when he took on three opponents, got into a shooting position and kicked the ball – next to the post. 10 minutes later, the coaching staff of Shakhtar U19 refreshed the left defensive wing: Reshetnikov came on instead of Halonskyi. The substitution could have had an immediate effect. Drozd, after a pass from the opposite flank and Zheliba’s cross, burst into the penalty area and put a cross to free Reshetnikov, but his shot was saved by Martynov. Towards the end, the Brewers managed to push the ball away from their own goal and create several potential scoring opportunities, but the Orange-and-Blacks were disciplined and kept the winning score.
