Shakhtar women’s team faced Vorskla Poltava in the final game of the season in Poltava
The coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks picked the following line-up for the game against Vorskla: Ustinova was in goal, Sikorska and Kotovets started as fullbacks, Kravchuk and Henyk played at centre-back, Veherych, Mostova and Myronenko appeared in midfield, Holovach and Zavidova operated on the wings, with Chaika leading the line-up front.
Defensive play
The hosts made a lively start and quickly took the lead: following a corner, Kravchuk won the aerial challenge and sent a header straight into the corner, leaving Ustinova with no chance. Vorskla were in possession and held the territorial advantage, mainly threatening Ustinova’s goal through wing play followed by crosses into the box, but Shakhtar defenders managed to block most of the attempts in time. However, in the 33rd minute, Vorskla footballers found a gap in Shakhtar’s defence and doubled their lead through Kalinina, who finished off Voit’s cross. In the closing phase before the break, the Miners pushed the game into the opponents’ half and orchestrated an attack that ended with a long-ranger from Myronenko dealt with comfortably by Samson.
Final half of the season
Less than two minutes into the second half, an air raid alert sounded in Poltava Oblast, lasting 37 minutes. Once it ended and the teams had a short warm-up, the game resumed. Vorskla continued to play fluidly on the Miners’ half and maintained overall control of the game, although they did not produce any accurate shots. In the 55th minute, Shakhtar coaching staff refreshed the midfield by fielding Zaborovets in place of Myronenko. Shakhtar looked to launch quick counterattacks after interceptions, but the Poltava side reorganised swiftly and prevented them from getting into shooting positions. Vorskla, on the other hand, created the more dangerous chances: Kalinina fired towards goal several times – no results. Later, Tarasiuk had a chance to extend the lead after a pass from the captain, but the crossbar denied her, and Ustinova caught the ball before any rebounds could occur. In the final minutes, the hosts increased the tempo, trying to seal the win with a third goal, but couldn't convert.
