Shakhtar U19 claimed their third consecutive away victory

The coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks significantly renewed the starting line-up compared to the previous match, and Nedozymovanyi, Harabazhii, Strilchuk, Davydenko, Zheliba and Balakai came on instead of Kravets, Oharkov, Halonskyi, Bundash, Petruk and Lomaha.

Pressure, set pieces and accurate Davydenko

The initial pressure from the Miners forced the hosts to retreat to their own half of the field, and it was not easy to find free zones in the opponent’s dense defensive line. The danger was created through the set pieces that the Orange-and-Blacks earned one after another, especially the free kick moment, when Smetana shot from an advantageous position, but the ball hit the wall. There was a threatening shot under the crossbar after a corner kick – the goalkeeper turned the ball to a new corner. Shakhtar U19’s pressure did not subside, and after the same corner kick, instead of the expected cross from the right wing, there was a pass to the penalty area line, where in the 23rd minute Davydenko sent the ball into the top far corner with a well-placed shot – 0-1. The visiting team continued to dominate and could have doubled their lead, but Inhulets maintained their compact defence, withstood the pressure, and began to threaten with quick counterattacks at the end of the half: after an interception in the centre of the field, Bekerskyi shot from the penalty area line, Nedozymovanyi parried, but Shkraba was the first to pursue rebounds – 1-1.

Five minutes for a goal

After the break, the host team focused on defence again, trying to contain the Miners’ attacking fervour, but this time they managed to withstand the pressure for only five minutes. The powerful positional attack of the visiting team with movement of the ball from the right flank to the left ended with an exquisite low pass from Zubrii into the penalty area. Being densely surrounded by the opponents, Balakai instantly found his bearings and passed to Smetanа, who was the first to reach the ball from the corner of the goalmouth and shoot past the goalkeeper – 1-2. The game remained under the control of Shakhtar U19 players, who acted as leaders. In the 58th minute, the coaching staff made three substitutions at once, renewing the attacking line. The hosts tried to go on the offensive, but they lacked sharpness. In response, the Orange-and-Blacks combined a lot and tried to create perfect conditions for the third goal, but lacked accuracy in finishing the attacks. Confidently holding the lead, the team won their third consecutive away victory with a 2-1 score.

The Miners have 76 points after 29 rounds (24 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss) and keep second place. The final match of the season against Rukh will take place in Lviv on Friday, May 23.
