Shakhtar midfielder Dmytro Kryskiv talked about the match against Rukh, the captain’s armband and the new kits
– Dmytro, today was the last match of the season, we can sum up the results. What are your conclusions?
– We create a lot of moments, we have really good chances in the opponent’s half of the field, but we only score one goal, not more, and then we concede from some micro-moment. As a result, it is a draw, we have to create chances again, but we cannot bring the match to victory. This was the case in most of the games in the middle of the season, so we can say that we spent the season on the same note as the final match. We probably need to dig deep into ourselves and understand what is wrong with each of us, because the players are responsible for the result and playing on the field. We need to find answers and change this already in the next season.
– Today there was a very pleasant moment for you – you took the field as captain. How does it feel?
– It feels very nice, because I have been given such a big responsibility in such a big club as Shakhtar. To take the field with the captain’s armband is a great pride for me, I could only dream of it. I was the captain of the youth team, but this is my first match as the captain of the first team, so I want to sincerely thank the coach for showing me such respect. Today I gave my all for us to win, but I am very disappointed that we did not manage to gain three points and end the season on a positive note.
– The team played in their new kits for the first time. How do you like it?
– Nice kits! All of them are really cool, in Shakhtar colours, if I may say so. I liked it, and it was really cool to play wearing the new kit on Shakhtar’s birthday. Of course, I wanted to win, and I apologise to the fans and everyone involved in the club for not being able to achieve a positive result.
– You just mentioned the club’s birthday. What would you like to say to the fans on this occasion?
– I want to say a big thank you for supporting us both in difficult moments and in moments of joy and victories. We are a young team that will progress and become stronger. I hope we will make conclusions from this season, and it will only get better from now on – we will win new victories.
