FC Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov addressed the fans on the club’s birthday
Dear fans! Dear friends!
Today our Shakhtar celebrates its birthday – the 89th foundation anniversary of a club with a great history and strong spirit. A history that has been written by remarkable players, coaches, employees, and fans throughout all these decades. I want to sincerely thank everyone who was and remains a part of our big family!
This season we won the 15th Ukrainian Cup – an important and symbolic trophy. This is Shakhtar’s 45th trophy in the club’s history, and each of them is the result of hard work, fight and spirit. Unfortunately, we are finishing this year’s championship with medals of a different colour than we are used to, but this challenge will only make us stronger. I believe in our young and talented footballers – they are ambitious and dream of victories. And I am sure that the team will do everything possible to give our fans the joy of a spectacular game and the pride for gold medals next season.
I congratulate our fans on the club’s birthday and thank each of you for always staying with the club: in the days of triumph and in the moments of hardships, experiencing defeats with us and rejoicing over victories.
But I especially want to thank our defenders, who are defending Ukraine at the front today. Thanks to you, the club continues to live, play and win even in difficult times of war. We will always be there, help and support you – those who defend our freedom and independence.
On Shakhtar’s birthday, I want to wish all of us peace and victory, and meetings in packed stadiums in a free, independent, strong Ukraine. May there be many more bright pages in the club’s history ahead, written together with you and for you.
