Shakhtar played against Rukh in Lviv in the UPL round 30
Head coach of the Miners Marino Pusic chose the following starting line-up for the final match of the season: Fesiun played in the goal, fullbacks Vinicius Tobias and Pedro Henrique and centre-backs Nazaryna and Faryna formed the defensive line, Kryskiv (with the captain’s armband), Bondarenko and Marlon Gomes acted in midfield, Kevin and Pedrinho were the wingers, with Eguinaldo taking the forward position.
First half without chances or goals
The Orange-and-Blacks acted as leaders from the start of the match, controlling the ball a lot and combining in the opponent’s half of the field, but they rarely managed to create dangerous moments. Therefore, after a sharp cross from Kevin, the ball got stuck in the host team’s penalty area, but neither Bondarenko nor Eguinaldo managed to get a shot. Bondarenko tried to shoot from the left edge of the penalty area, but was blocked by Didyk. The Lviv team had a chance to score during the counterattack, but the ball flew close to the post after Karabin’s shot and deflection. The Miners responded with another series of attacks: Kryskiv narrowly missed Pedro Henrique’s cross, and Pedrinho shot into the goalkeeper’s hands.
Eguinaldo’s goal, Oharkov’s debut
The goals came right after the break. In the 46th minute, the Pitmen earned a corner on the left wing, Kevin passed to the near post, Bondarenko beat the goalkeeper and shot, and Eguinaldo pushed the ball into an empty net – 0-1. Bondarenko could have doubled the lead right away, but his curled shot from the right corner of the penalty area was saved by Hereta. The hosts also responded with a dangerous moment (Horin shot over the target), and in the 57th minute they equalised – after a corner kick, Faal scored with a well-placed header. In the middle of the half, head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Marino Pusic made two waves of substitutions: first Tsukanov and Alisson appeared on the field, in the 74th minute Newertton and 20-year-old defender, a graduate of the club’s Academy Mykola Oharkov entered the game, with the latter making his debut for the first team of Shakhtar. Later, Kaua Elias also came on as a substitute. Newertton had two great chances to score: his first shot narrowly missed the top corner, and then the Brazilian shot past the goalkeeper after Alisson’s cross. At the opposite goal, Fesiun saved, not allowing Pastukh to score. 1-1 – Shakhtar played a draw with Rukh in the last match of the 2024/25 championship.
The team are going on vacation and will start preparing for the new season in June.
