The 38-year-old Turkish specialist will prepare the team for the upcoming season
Arda Turan has become the new head coach of Shakhtar. The contract lasts until the summer of 2027. He will be the 39th manager in the history of the Donetsk club.

Arda Turan was born on January 30, 1987 in Istanbul (Türkiye).
As a footballer, he is a product of Galatasaray Istanbul. He played as a midfielder. Arda Turan represented Galatasaray (2005–2011, 2020–2022), Manisaspor (2006, on loan), Spanish sides Atletico Madrid (2011–2015) and Barcelona (2015–2020), İstanbul Basaksehir (2018–2020, on loan). He was named Türkiye’s Player of the Year four times (2008, 2009, 2014, 2015). Turkish champion (2008), Turkish Cup winner (2005) and Turkish Super Cup winner (2008), Spanish champion (2014, 2016), Spanish Cup winner (2013, 2016, 2017) and Spanish Super Cup winner (2014, 2016), UEFA Europa League winner (2012) and UEFA Super Cup winner (2012).
He made 100 appearances and scored 16 goals for the Türkiye national team (2006–2017). Arda Turan took part in UEFA Euro 2008 (3rd place) and UEFA Euro 2016. He announced his retirement as a footballer in September 2022.
Arda began his coaching career on April 14, 2023, taking charge of Turkish First League side Eyüpspor (Istanbul). At the end of the 2023/24 season, he led the team to victory in the league and advancement to the Turkish Super Lig. In the 2024/25 season, he finished 6th in the Turkish Championship with Eyüpspor. In total, he has managed 84 matches as head coach.
