Shakhtar U19 faced Zorya Luhansk U19 away in the Youth League round 28
The coaching staff of the Orange-and-Blacks picked the following line-up for the game against Zorya U19: Kravets played in goal, Halonskyi and Reshetnikov appeared as fullbacks, Oharkov and Dankovskyi acted at centre-back, Smetana, Bundash and Tiutiunov formed the midfield, Zubrii and Petruk were deployed as wingers, with Lomaha spearheading the attack.
Goalless half, but with chances
The Miners immediately took control of the ball, played fluidly and tried to get to Kosivskyi's goal. Lomaha created the first opportunity after moving to the edge of the box, but his shot went off target. The Luhansk side responded with a dangerous chance after a set piece, but the Orange-and-Blacks intercepted the ball, orchestrated a quick attack, which ended with a shot from Smetana, however the goalkeeper saved the ball. The Pitmen continued to have a territorial advantage and create danger. Zubrii could have opened the scoring when he first tried to place it into the near corner after being fed by Smetana, and then, after breaking into the penalty area, hit the goalkeeper Towards the end of the first half, the hosts managed to get through the Orange-and-Blacks‘ high pressure and get closer to Kravets’ goal, but it did not come to accurate shots.
The Pitmen’s comeback win
The second half began with a promising corner from the Miners, which ended with the ball crossing the goal line, but the referee ruled it out for offside. Instead, the hosts’ response was successful: Yaroshenko drew several Shakhtar U19 defenders, passed the ball to Savin on the right flank, who took advantage of the free space and shot into the far corner. The coaching staff of the Pitmen responded with a double substitution, fielding Strilchuk and Zheliba. The Miners began to act more aggressively, hoping to equalize quickly, but the Luhansk side were tightly positioned in the penalty area and blocked the attackers' attempts to hit the goal in time. But at the end of the game, the visitors managed to convert their efforts into goals and change the game: first, Reshetnikov scored when he won a header after a corner kick and beat the goalkeeper, and then Dankovskyi threaded it perfectly into the top corner.
