Shakhtar U19 forward Muhamadou Kanteh reflects on the win over Obolon U19, the support within the team and his scoring form
– Shakhtar claimed a convincing win after a two-week break. How did you prepare for this match and how would you describe the match?
– Our preparation was very focused on the opponents and we worked extensively on intensity, pressing and finishing during the league break. We came back with a strong desire to win, so the game was under our control from the opening minutes.
– You scored four goals. What do those goals mean to you and who do you credit for them?
– Being effective in front of goal is very important for me. These goals restored my confidence and I’m certainly grateful to my teammates for the passes and the actions that led to the goals. My thanks also go to the entire team and the coaching staff for their trust.
– You’re the only foreign player in the team. Tell us about the support you receive from your teammates and the coaching staff. Who do you get along with the most and who helps you?
– I really do feel the support and it means a lot. My teammates help me feel at home. Naturally, I communicate most with the midfielders and forwards, as we’re always close to each other on the pitch. But honestly, everyone helps me – both on and off the field. That’s something I truly value.
– This season you’ve been highly effective and remain at the top of the scoring race. How important is that for you and does it motivate you?
– Knowing that definitely motivates me. It’s undoubtedly important, but the team’s result always comes first. If my goals help us win, then I’m happy and will keep moving towards my individual aims, though the collective achievements are what matter most.
