Shakhtar midfielder Dmytro Kryskiv took part in the press conference ahead of the UEFA Conference League match against Shamrock Rovers

– As you know, Shamrock Rovers have two defeats and one draw in this season’s Conference League, while they have won both the Irish Cup and the league. How do you assess the opponents? What can be expected from them and what key strengths would you highlight? (Shakhtar TV)
– We’ve just come here from theory, for the press conference, where we discussed the opponents. They are indeed a good team, having won the Irish League four times in the last five years, so, as always, it will be a tough clash. We will go into this game 100 per cent ready, do everything within our power, approach the opponents with respect and, hopefully, secure important points for our country’s coefficient, for Shakhtar and also give the fans a good mood.

– Dmytro, you missed the European matches this season due to injuries. How are you feeling now and how strong is your desire to play specifically in European competition? (ua.tribuna.com)
– Yes, indeed, I have missed a lot this season. I hope the bad patch is over, I feel good. The coaching staff and the fitness coach have prepared me well to reintegrate into the main squad. I haven’t played on the European stage yet, and these are very important minutes and very important matches, so I want to step onto the pitch, give 100 per cent, secure a win and give our fans only happy moments through our game.

– It so happens that this week Shakhtar are playing in Dublin and Sviatoslav Vakarchuk is also holding solo concerts here. What is your favourite Okean Elzy song? (Zorya Londonsk)
– I really like this singer and enjoy his songs, but I don’t remember the titles very well. But if one of his songs is played for me, I can, so to speak, really enjoy these songs and the performer. It’s great that he is here and performing.

– What does a match of this level mean for the people of Ukraine and Donbas, given the current situation? (Irish media)
– Yes, this is indeed a very important match for fans from Donbas and across Ukraine. We need to secure these points for Ukraine’s coefficient in Europe. Every European game is important for us right now, so we step onto the pitch and give 100 per cent for our country, the team and the fans.

– Do you know any Ukrainians who have moved to Ireland over the past few years, anyone who might come to the game? (Irish media)
– Yes, I have friends in Ireland; they used to live in my city in Ukraine, in Kharkiv. After the war began, they moved to Ireland, which is fortunate because Ireland offers good opportunities and living conditions without war. I hope the war ends and the people who are living in Ireland now will return to Ukraine.
