Shakhtar women's team faced Kolos away in the Vyshcha League first stage centrepiece MD11 game
The head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks picked the following line-up for the game against Kolos: Ustinova was in goal, Kotovets, Balatska, Henyk and Sikorska formed the defensive line, Myronenko, Kuksa and Veherych started in midfield, Zavidova and Holovach operated on the wings of the attack, with Chaika leading the line.
A combative first half
The match started with a quick goal from the home side: Kupiak took the throw-in to and played the ball to Ostapiv, who had freed herself from Balatska’s marking, moved into a shooting position and beat Ustinova. Kolos had more possession and it was dangerous again near Shakhtar’s goal in the 15th minute: Ostapiv shook off Henyk and attempted a shot – Ustinova blocked the threat with a diving save. Shortly after, the match was paused in the 21st minute due to an air raid alert in the Kyiv region. When play resumed, the game became more balanced, with both teams taking turns to create chances, though advancing into the final third remained difficult. Eventually, Chaika had a promising opportunity but shot straight into an opponent’s body. Veherych then squandered the best chance to restore parity, missing the target in one-on-one situation with Keliushyk. By the end of the half, the Miners were mostly in Kolos’ half, but no clear scoring opportunities were created.
Zavidova’s spectacular goal couldn’t prevent defeat
After the break, Shakhtar women’s team coach refreshed the left side of the defence with a substitution: Kravchuk came on for Kotovets. Early in the second half, Kolos were more active, first creating a scoring chance from a corner with a shot by Kohut, and later Fedorenko broke down the flank and faced the goalkeeper one-on-one – Ustinova made a solid save. The Orange-and-Blacks’ response was immediate and effective. Veherych fed Zavidova, who struck on the second touch from outside the penalty area, sending the ball into the net. In the 68th minute, the Miners made a double substitution: Vykaliuk and Liakhovych replaced Zavidova and Veherych. Kolos continued to press forward and took the lead again through Semkiv following a mix-up between Henyk and Ustinova. Later, Semkiv scored her second goal, winning an aerial challenge and converting a cross from the flank. The final minutes passed in positional play without any further clear chances.
