Shakhtar forward Kaua Elias answered reporters’ questions ahead of the match against Aberdeen

– Tomorrow, Shakhtar begin their journey in the Conference League league phase. How do you view this tournament and what can you say in general about all the opponents you will face in this competition? (Shakhtar TV)
– We think it’s a very challenging tournament, and I believe that we, as a team, are ready to play at this level. Of course, our opponents are also a qualified team, and we know that tomorrow’s match will be tough. But I believe we have done everything possible to prepare for this game and we will be able to leave the pitch tomorrow with a result in our favour.

– What kind of atmosphere do you expect tomorrow night at Pittodrie? You know there will be a lot of Ukrainian fans as well in the stands watching. (STV News)
– First of all, I really want to thank them for their support, and I believe that from our side we will do everything to win their hearts with our beautiful football and the style of play we try to maintain from match to match. I also hope we can thank them for coming and make them happy.

– There was a major change in the team over the summer: two players, Kevin and Sudakov, left the club, while three young Brazilians joined Shakhtar. How is their adaptation going, and how are they already influencing the team’s play? (Zorya Londonsk)
– I believe they have started very well and integrated into our team from the very beginning. In my view, their adaptation is going quite smoothly and organically, since we already have many Brazilians in the squad, making it easy for them to find friends and mutual understanding. Regarding personalities, both Luca and Isaque, in my opinion, have started excellently. Both have scored important goals, and I’m confident they can help the team at any moment — whether starting against strong opponents or coming on as substitutes. I believe they have all the qualities needed to contribute to the team in any situation.

– Currently, Aberdeen are at the bottom of the Scottish league. What can you say about this, how would you characterise the opponents and does this factor affect your preparation? (Shakhtar TV)
– Regardless of that, I’m confident that tomorrow will be a very tough match. I’m not concerned at all about their current position at the bottom of the table because I believe every team want to play at their best and do everything possible to achieve the best result. And of course, they have the advantage of playing at home in front of their fans, so I don’t expect an easy game tomorrow.
