Shakhtar forward Kaua Elias reflects on his first brace and the win over Kudrivka (4-0)
– You scored twice against Kudrivka. What does it mean to you and how do you feel after the win?
– This victory is very important. We knew the match would be difficult, as always. We needed this win before the Clasico after three unsuccessful games. It gives us confidence ahead of the match against Dynamo to win the Clasico.
– Recall both goals. How would you describe them?
– The first goal came from a set piece, something we had worked on during training sessions: I moved to the far post, Marlon laid the ball off and I scored. The second goal: I was on the left, again closing in at the far post, Pedrinho, a brilliant player, played the pass and I scored.
– You made some gestures towards the stands after scoring. Who were they for and to whom do you dedicate the goals?
– The goal was for my grandfather, who came today. He’s my manager and he also brings me luck: when he’s at the stadium, I always score. Today’s two goals are for him. And the second celebration was for another family member, someone very dear to me. I’m happy to have scored these two goals.
– Did Shakhtar manage to control the game against Kudrivka one hundred per cent?
– Yes, that’s true. I think we did everything we had worked on during training sessions. We managed to dominate the game. There was a penalty, but that happens. Overall, we controlled the match, we were better and that’s why we won 4-0.
– Next, Shakhtar face a double clash with Dynamo Kyiv. Are the team fully prepared emotionally?
– Of course, we’re always ready for such important matches. I’m here for that and so are the team. Dynamo are strong opponents, but we know our potential. We hope to win, though the match will be tough, especially away. But the next one is at home, in the Premier League. So we hope to win. We have many great players of high quality, so we’re aiming for victory.
