Shakhtar midfielder Oleh Ocheretko shared his impressions of the match against Kudrivka (4-0)
– Oleh, you’ve scored your first goal for Shakhtar in the UPL. What does it mean to you as an Academy graduate and how do you feel right now?
– I’m glad to have scored for my club, to have helped the team and now we’re top of the table. I’m happy to have scored this goal for the team, we’ll keep moving forward. Overall, it feels great, I’m really glad.
– Pedrinho produced a brilliant overhead assist. Had you practiced anything like that during training sessions or was it pure improvisation?
– I think he just felt the moment. In training, Pedrinho and I always play together, we know each other’s movements, so it was also about understanding each other – I knew where the ball would be.
– Looking at the match, can it be said that Shakhtar fully dominated the game?
– I think so. We tried to press the opponents every minute to get a result and stay top of the table. I believe we completely outplayed them.
– The last few matches have been very tough in terms of play and results, and now a difficult run has been broken. Do you feel relieved?
– Yes, it was important for us to win this match. We lost to Legia in the final minutes, which was very unpleasant. We needed to make up for it in this game, to mentally reset positively and move forward with only a positive mindset.
– Arda Turan is very emotional during matches, as well as before and after them. What did he say to you throughout the day, how did he motivate the team?
– He encouraged us, saying we needed to go out and play our football – Shakhtar football: control the game, play with the ball, take shots on goal. He spoke to everyone, giving instructions on how to play. There was also theory; he said such warm words to everyone that we were fully motivated.
– Ahead, Shakhtar face two matches against Dynamo Kyiv – in the Cup and the Ukrainian Premier League. How do you feel about such a schedule?
– It will be interesting. I don’t know how it will go, but we’ll play to win and fight.
– Do you have any expectations or feelings about these upcoming matches?
– Not yet. We need to take a little time to recover from this game first.
