The game was indeed intense

Comment from Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev after the match against Vorskla (1-2)

– We took all factors related to Vorskla into account, including their important Champions League match against Belgian side Leuven and the long journey, so we planned the game in two phases. The first phase was about not conceding an early goal and keeping a clean sheet, while in the second we needed to adjust, considering that Vorskla would be both psychologically and physically fatigued. We had to increase the pace and press the opponents, but the goal conceded at the end of the first half affected the team. At half-time, we emphasised that nothing was lost yet and that we needed to raise our intensity. Likely, the weather conditions and temperature prevented us from playing at the required tempo. The game was indeed intense from both sides. We hoped we would have enough strength and patience to wear Vorskla down. At the same time, credit must be given to Vorskla, who played intelligently, had possession and controlled the game, achieving a result that allowed them to win despite minimal resources.
