Shakhtar youth team faced their Kudrivka counterparts in the U19 National League round 25

Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik selected the following starting line-up for the match against Kudrivka U19: Chympoiesh was in goal, Kostiuk and Kaliuzhnyi started as full-backs, Mylokost and Verhun played in central defence, Bundash, Tiutiunov and Smetana formed the midfield line, Strilchuk and Balakai operated on the wings, with Lomaha getting the centre-forward role.

An active start with a narrow advantage for the Miners

The opponents began the game at a high tempo and exchanged attacks early on. In the 7th minute, Strilchuk had a promising opportunity when he fired over the bar after a cross from the flank. The hosts responded with several dangerous forays, but Chympoiesh dealt with them confidently. The first real scoring chance fell to the Orange-and-Blacks when Tiutiunov, after a lay-off from Smetana in the penalty area, aimed for the far corner, but the midfielder lacked the accuracy to open the scoring. The Miners gradually took control, keeping possession in Kudrivka U19’s half and looking for ways to break into Bykhovchenko’s area. Eventually, after a series of combination moves, Bundash tried his luck from distance in the 24th minute with a powerful strike that the opposing goalkeeper could only watch, but the ball hit the crossbar. However, ten minutes later the Orange-and-Blacks managed to turn their efforts into a goal: Tiutiunov carried the ball past opponents and struck on target, but Bykhovchenko reacted in a dive, and Smetana, having taken up the right position, finished successfully from the rebound. Until the end of the first half, the Pitmen continued to attack, and Lomaha, Balakai and Tiutiunov all had promising chances, but they were unable to double their lead.

Control of the game with two goals

At the start of the second half, the Miners could have claimed a goal from a corner routine, when the ball from Tiutiunov crossed the goal line, but the referee disallowed it for offside. In the 54th minute, Kudrivka U19 created a chance after an interception: Shvets shot dangerously, but his attempt to equalise was blocked by Mylokost. Four minutes later, the Miners played a set piece that almost resulted in a goal: first, after a prolonged scramble in the penalty area, Kostiuk hit the post, and Verhun found himself in a shooting position following a deflection, but the defender lacked accuracy. Immediately afterwards, Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik made a substitution, with Davydenko replacing Lomaha. The hosts tried to respond to the Orange-and-Blacks and create chances near Chympoiesh’s goal, including efforts from distance. In the 73rd minute, the Pitmen extended their lead: after Kostiuk cleared the ball from his own penalty area, Balakai challenged three opponents, picked up the ball and calmly beat the goalkeeper to score. It took just three more minutes to add a third: Tiutiunov found the net after an interception and a through pass from Bundash. After that, Oleksii Bielik brought on Petruk, Chornenkyi and Kanteh. Towards the end of the match, the Miners continued to control the tempo despite a comfortable lead and saw the game out logically.

3-0 – Shakhtar U19 secured a confident victory over Kudrivka U19. Already in a week, on May 2, the Miners will face their closest league challengers – Dynamo Kyiv U19.
