Everything was decided before the break
From the start of the match, the visitors had a clear advantage, and if at the very beginning the Orange-and-Blacks were twice saved by Ustinova and once by the crossbar, then in the 12th minute, the Kharkiv side still managed to open the scoring – Andrukhiv struck a direct free-kick into the bottom right corner. Three minutes later, the league leaders doubled their advantage – the ball got stuck in the penalty area and Molodiuk bundled it into the net. For a while, the hosts managed to slow the game down, but in the 22nd minute, they were again forced to pick the ball out of their net – Molodiuk’s long-ranger hit the crossbar, with Kunina reacting to the rebound. It was only from the middle of the half that Shakhtar managed to level the game slightly and create their first chance, as Sikorska’s shot went wide. The Yellow-and-Blues responded with two dangerous attacks, and while Ustinova saved the team in the first situation, the goalkeeper could not stop a surprise shot from Basanska from the left flank in the 34th minute. The first half was rounded off by Petryk, who finished from close range after a rebound in the 38th minute. 0-5 at half-time.
A more balanced half, but the opponents scored again
The second half followed a different scenario: the Kharkiv side continued to push forward, while the hosts also looked for chances on the counterattack. A powerful long-range shot from Apanaschenko was kept out from under the crossbar by Ustinova, while Zavidova, who came on at half-time, broke through down the right side of the penalty area but shot straight at the visiting goalkeeper from a tight angle. In the 60th minute, Metalist 1925 scored their sixth goal: Apanaschenko set up Molodiuk in the box, and she converted from close range. In the 69th minute, Shakhtar coaching staff made a triple substitution, bringing on Chendei, Zolotukhina and Veherych. Roman Zaiev’s side briefly managed to level the game and produced several promising moves towards the visitors’ penalty area, but were unable to finish their attacks. The Kharkiv side struck again in the 81st minute, when Khimych fired into the top corner from the left side of the box. Khimych could have scored a second, but Ustinova turned the ball away from under the crossbar. 0-7 – Shakhtar women’s team lose to Metalist 1925.
