Shakhtar women’s team hosted Kryvbas in the Prime League round 4

Shakhtar head coach Roman Zaiev named the following starting line-up for the game against Kryvbas: Ustinova started in goal, Kotovets and Sikorska featured at full-back, Henyk and Balatska formed the centre-back pairing, Kuksa, Mokhnach and Veherych played in midfield, Holovach and Zavidova were on the wings, with Druzhchenko leading the attack.

Dominance but no goals

The game started with a chance near the Kryvbas goal: following a corner, Kuksa found herself in a shooting position and aimed for the near post, but Soloviova made the save. Moments later, Druzhchenko had a second opportunity to score – her long-ranger went just wide of the post, with the goalkeeper watching it all the way. Shakhtar quickly took territorial control, established themselves in the Kryvyi Rih side’s half and threatened Soloviova’s goal with long-range efforts. Zavidova had the best chance to take the lead midway through the first half, but the ball flew over the crossbar. Kryvbas responded with occasional attacks, including down the right flank, where Nazarenko was active, but without creating any danger for Ustinova’s goal. In the 35th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks launched a quick counter-attack from their own half, with Holovach then going one-on-one, but to no avail. Towards the end of the half, Zaporozhets capitalised on a misplaced pass by Henyk, but was unable to lift the ball over Ustinova.

First win of the season

After the break, the Orange-and-Blacks head coach Roman Zaiev brought Myronenko, Marchenko and Zolotukhina on. Myronenko immediately received a through ball, but was unable to make the most of her one-on-one with Soloviova, shooting straight at the goalkeeper. Finally, in the 56 minute, the Shakhtar turned their efforts into a goal, taking the lead through Holovach’s finish from the flank. The hosts controlled the tempo of the game and did not allow Kryvbas to threaten Ustinova’s goal, and in stoppage time they doubled their lead when Pipchenko converted a cross from the flank.

2-0 – Shakhtar beat Kryvbas at home. The Orange-and-Blacks will play their next game away against Pantery next Tuesday, August 19.
