Shakhtar women's team faced Pantery Uman away on the Prime League MD5
Head coach Roman Zaiev named the following starting line-up: Ustinova was in goal, Sikorska, Balatska, Henyk and Kotovets appeared in defence, Mokhnach, Myronenko and Kuksa played in midfield, Holovach and Zavidova operated on the wings, with Druzhchenko leading the line.
Unfortunate start
Shakhtar started the game more actively and tried to establish possession in Pantery’s half. The first really dangerous chance came in the 9th minute, when Holovach carried the ball down the flank, moved towards the centre and struck under the crossbar – Hudzyk was there to make the save. The hosts’ response did not take long and proved decisive: Tykhonova played a pass from deep into the penalty area, where Myrhorodska was first to the ball, went past Henyk and Balatska, and beat Ustinova. The game then continued to be a battle, mainly in the centre of the pitch, but Shakhtar were dangerous again when Holovach struck the crossbar from distance. Until the end of the first half, the Orange-and-Blacks had more possession, but were unable to turn it into goalscoring chances.
Assists from Holovach turned the game around
At half-time, Shakhtar made a double substitution, with Zolotukhina and Marchenko replacing Sikorska and Zavidova. The second half started with a huge chance for the Donetsk side: Holovach’s through ball sent Druzhchenko one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Hudzyk quickly closed down the angle and took the shot. The visitors’ pressure grew with every minute, with Druzhchenko turning home Holovach’s cross in the 65th minute to level the score. The opponents played an open game and exchanged chances. In the 73rd minute, Myrhorodska came close to scoring a second, but missed the target. However, the next attack from the Miners proved decisive: Holovach picked out Marchenko with a lofted pass from her own half, and Mariia used her pace to get ahead of her opponents and finish one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Shakhtar head coach Roman Zaiev made further substitutions, bringing on Liakhovych, Veherych and Pipchenko. The final minutes of the match were controlled by the Donetsk side.
2-1 – Shakhtar women’s team secured a comeback victory over Pantery. Roman Zaiev’s side will play their next league game against Kharkiv on September 5.
