Shakhtar U19 head coach Maksym Malyshev commented on the defeat to Dynamo U19
– We lacked the finishing. I’m proud of the players, we totally dominated throughout both halves. I’d also like to point out that we were practically playing against Dynamo U21, with players two or three years older than ours. I’m grateful to the lads. They have a great future if they continue to play and approach the game in this way. Our style of play is working, and that’s the most important thing. The results will come. The main thing is for the young players to keep improving every day. It was an undeserved defeat, but we accept it, we’ll draw conclusions and move forward. After the final whistle, I praised the lads in the dressing room for their passion and desire to play.
– In the second half, Shakhtar U19 put more pressure on the opposition goal. What did you manage to change after the break?
– In fact, we had chances in both the first and second halves. And, as I said, we were in control of the game.
– The youth team are currently going through a difficult period, with two consecutive defeats. Does this affect the team’s emotional state?
– It has no effect as we are playing against older players. For our footballers, this is invaluable experience that will undoubtedly contribute to their development. We will work even harder.
– What would you like to say to the fans who actively supported Shakhtar U19 throughout the match?
– I sincerely thank the fans who came and supported the team. Family members, friends and everyone else were there, and we felt their support, which gave us a real boost. It is very important for the players, so I would like to ask you to come to our matches more often. I’d also like to thank the parents and loved ones who recorded a video to support the players before the match – it worked.
