First interview with Shakhtar newcomer Alan Matturro
– Alan, welcome to Shakhtar! What are your first impressions?
– I’m very happy to join the greatest club in Ukraine, to have the opportunity to play alongside teammates of such a high level and compete in the Champions League.
– What did you know about the club before joining and had you followed it before?
– I knew it was a very important club in Ukraine, where they set the most ambitious goals and sign many talented footballers. I knew Shakhtar very well, and now I’m learning even more about the club.
– This season, Shakhtar will compete in the UEFA Champions League. Is that a particular motivation for you?
– Absolutely! It’s something I’ve dreamed about since childhood.
– What would you say are your main strengths as a footballer and what would you like to contribute to the team?
– My mentality, aggression, strength in the air, willingness not to give up a single ball and to always give my all until the final whistle. And above all, the Uruguayan garra charrúa – the character and fighting spirit typical of Uruguayans.
– What goals have you set yourself at this new stage of your career at Shakhtar?
– To become a champion, play in the Champions League again and be an important footballer for the team.
– What do you know about Ukrainian football and what do you expect from playing in Ukraine?
– It is very intense, dynamic and physically demanding football. For me, it is an opportunity to continue developing professionally in a new league.
– Finally, what would you like to say to the Shakhtar fans?
