Shakhtar forward Kaua Elias shared his thoughts after the winning UPL match against Kudrivka (5-1)
– Congratulations on the win and your hat-trick! What motivated you so much and how are you feeling?
– I'm delighted that the team won! We worked really hard during pre-season and claimed a very important victory, considering it's the start of the league campaign. Scoring so many goals brings an incredible rush of emotions. I'm really pleased with the way the match unfolded. As for my biggest motivation, it's the conversations I have with my family. Once again, I'd like to say that I'm happy with the team's result and with my three goals.
– Did you have a personal conversation with head coach Arda Turan ahead of the match?
– We always talk, but we didn't have any specific conversation about the upcoming game. He really is someone who understands exactly what we need most. Whenever he has the chance, he calls someone over and talks to him, whether it's about personal matters or football. And that's not just with the players, but with everyone – the coaching staff, personnel and communications team. Most importantly, he knows how to show us the path we need to follow and the vision of football we should embrace, so that we don't just win matches, but win them while staying true to our values.
– Can you remember all three of your goals and talk us through them? Also tell us about your celebrations as they were quite special and memorable.
– Yes, of course, I remember every one of them. The first goal came from a great cross by Alisson, and all I had to do was finish it. For the second, I won the challenge, shielded the ball and managed to find the net. The third came after a long ball in a quick counter-attack. I won the battle with the centre-backs and finished past the goalkeeper. As for the celebrations, the first one was dedicated to my daughter, Helena, who is due to be born in December. That's why I celebrated it that way. I'd also like to thank Alisson for his incredible contribution to my goals. As I've already said, I'm absolutely delighted and full of emotions!
