Shakhtar U19 captain Vladyslav Tiutiunov reflected on the victory over Kudrivka U21, spoke about his role as captain and shared his objectives for the new season
– We knew it would be a difficult match because of the heat, and Kudrivka U21 are a tough side as well. I believe the amount of work we put in during our training camp and the way we trained in the heat were the key to being in such good form. It was the result of a collective effort from both the coaching staff and the players. We prepared well for the match and deservedly came away with the win.
– How important is it to start the season with a win?
– It's extremely important because it gives you the confidence that we're capable of performing at the level that's expected of us. I wouldn't say Kudrivka U21 were a weak side, but we got the result through our teamwork. I'm proud of the lads.
– You captained Shakhtar's U19 team. What does that mean to you?
– It definitely gives me confidence. A few years ago, I could only dream of being the captain, and now it's a reality. I'm not planning to stop here. On the contrary, I want to keep improving and working hard so that I'm trusted with this role in the future as well. As captain, you have to set an example for your teammates and help and support them whenever they need it.
– What are your objectives for the new season and what do you want to achieve with the team?
– We'll try to play our football, dominate our opponents and fight until the very end. Our objective is to win the league title. On a personal level, I want to keep scoring and providing assists. But even if that doesn't happen, I'll do everything I can to help the team in every aspect of the game.
