Shakhtar women’s team defeated DYuSSh Podil in the second round of the friendly tournament dedicated to the memory of footballer Viktoriia Kotliarova (Chornovil)
The women’s team coach Roman Zaiev selected the following starting line-up: Ustinova was in goal, Shevtsova, Balatska, Henyk and Pipchenko appeared in defence, Zolotukhina, Starukhina and Kuksa operated in midfield, Holovach and Vykaliuk played on the wings, with Chaika leading the attack.
A strong start with Chaika’s goals
The Orange-and-Blacks controlled the ball from the first minutes, studying their opponents and looking for openings in the final third. Chaika had a great chance to open the scoring early in the game, but her shot went over the target. Eventually, Shakhtar’s persistence paid off with a quick double from Chaika. The opponents briefly tried to gain territorial initiative and threaten Ustinova’s goal, but aside from a few inaccurate long-range shots, they posed no real danger. The Miners played as the attacking side, building attacks through wing play and creating opportunities to move into shooting positions. The right flank, where Vykaliuk and Shevtsova operated, proved especially dangerous – both had scoring chances. The winger’s attempts were blocked in time and the defender’s shot went just past the post. Towards the end of the half, the Miners pressed their opponents near the penalty area, but no clear-cut chances emerged.
The goal-scoring showcase continues
After the break, Roman Zaiev made the usual squad rotation. The second half began with rapid attacks from Shakhtar and a goal from Druzhchenko, making the score crushing. The Miners continued to dominate possession and prevented their opponents from building attacks, quickly regaining control of the ball. After creating a series of potentially dangerous chances, Shakhtar converted their efforts into another goal – following a cross from Zavidova, Chendei finished the move. In the 73rd minute, the Orange-and-Blacks orchestrated a slick two-touch move; after a cross from Zavidova, Liakhovych ran onto the ball in a shooting position but missed by just a few centimetres. The game then calmed slightly, continuing with end-to-end action but without major threats to the goals. Near the end of the match, the Miners made one final effective move, initiated down the right flank and finished with a shot from Liakhovych. 5-0 – Shakhtar women’s team defeated DYuSSh Podil.
