On February 13, Shakhtar played the test game against Georgian runners-up Dila

Arda Turan selected the following starting line-up for the first match of the day: Fesiun was in goal, Konoplia, wearing the captain’s armband, and Faryna played on the defensive flanks, Ghram and Marlon Santos acted at centre-back, young Smetana and Isaque appeared in midfield, with Lucas, Eguinaldo, Meirelles, and Traore making up the attacking quartet.

Quick goals from Isaque and Smetana from Lucas’ assists

The Miners started the meeting in dominant fashion, opening the scoring in the 5th minute: Lucas played the ball to Isaque, who curled a delicate shot from the semicircle into the bottom-right corner – 1-0. The Pitmen’s second goal came shortly after: in the 10th minute, following a prolonged team combination, the same Lucas laid the ball off just outside the box to Denys Smetana, who struck spectacularly into the top corner, making it 2-0. By the middle of the first half, the heavy weather – pouring rain and strong wind – slowed the pace. Nevertheless, the Orange-and-Blacks continued to control the game and created several more chances: Smetana’s and Eguinaldo’s shots were blocked by the Georgian defenders, and Isaque’s attempt was saved by the goalkeeper. The best chances just before halftime came from Traore: first, the Burkinabe forward headed the ball onto the left post, then finished a teammate’s cross with his foot, hitting the right post, and Reginald's effort on the rebound was stopped by the keeper. In one episode, Kiril Fesiun had to be alert, pulling off a long-ranger from Anoff from the corner.

Goals exchanged after the break and a final victory for the Miners

At the start of the second half, Traore had another chance, just missing the connection to finish Konoplia’s cross. But the Burkinabe forward soon found the net: Lucas once again set up his teammate, earning a penalty in the 54th minute, Lassina Traore struck from the spot almost down the centre, the goalkeeper parried the ball straight ahead and the Pitmen’s forward followed up to slot it into the net – 3-0. Almost immediately, the Georgians responded: Canadian Fuller scored with a precise shot from outside the box. In the 61st minute, Dila reduced the deficit to the minimum:
inside the penalty area, Konoplia touched the ball with his hand and the referee awarded a penalty – Shekiladze shot to the right, Fesiun reached the ball, but it still found the net. After that, the game slowed down, and Arda Turan made a series of substitutions, giving youth team players some time on the pitch: Tsukanov, Petruk and Bundash came on. The most experienced of them, Tsukanov, was active and had a chance, but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

3-2 – Shakhtar secured victory over Georgian side Dila in their fifth friendly at the winter camp.

Today, the Miners will play another test game – this time against Georgian league newcomers Rustavi. The clash kicks off at 16:00 Kyiv time. All friendlies of the Orange-and-Blacks are streamed on Shakhtar’s YouTube channel and FC Shakhtar mobile app (App Store and Google Play) in the Live section.
