Shakhtar women’s team defeated Mariupol in the third round of the friendly tournament dedicated to the memory of footballer Viktoriia Kotliarova (Chornovil)

Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev selected the following starting line-up for the game against Mariupol: Ustinova took a place between the sticks, Lutsan, Kravchuk and Henyk operated in defence, Myronenko, Kuksa, Sikorska, Kotovets and Chaika appeared in midfield, with Druzhchenko and Vykaliuk spearheading the attack.

Ball control and high tempo

The Orange-and-Blacks immediately took control of the ball and began to attack. Henyk had a clear chance to open the scoring, but her effort went straight at the goalkeeper. In the 9th minute, the Miners converted their pressure into a goal: Vykaliuk broke through the opposition down the right flank and delivered a cross for Chaika, who finished first time to find the target. It did not take long for the Miners to double their advantage – following a well-worked move, Druzhchenko produced a precise shot into the top corner. Mariupol responded immediately with a dangerous chance: Tarsukova shot from outside the penalty area, with Ustinova diving to parry the effort. Shakhtar footballers continued to control the tempo of the game and in the 20th minute managed to break through the opponents’ defence, increasing their lead through Vykaliuk. The next attacks by the Orange-and-Blacks also proved effective: before the break, goals were scored by Druzhchenko, Vykaliuk and Chaika, who secured a hat-trick.

Complete dominance by the Orange-and-Blacks

After the break, the head coach of Shakhtar women’s team made significant changes to the line-up. The second half began with a quick goal from Shakhtar: after a cross from deep into the penalty area, Liakhovych won the ball and curled it precisely into the far corner. The Miners pushed forward using pace down the flanks and did not allow Mariupol to orchestrate attacks in response. The sustained pressure resulted in a productive ten-minute spell, during which goals were scored by Vykaliuk, Druzhchenko and Zavidova. The Orange-and-Blacks did not slow down despite a comfortable lead and extensive rotation, continuing to apply constant pressure on the opponents’ goal. Thus, in the 61st minute, following a corner, Shevtsova scored from distance after the ball was cleared. Four minutes later, Starukhina capitalised on an opponent’s mistake, intercepted the ball and passed to the unmarked Chendei, who finished it calmly. Until the final whistle, the Miners retained the initiative, with Liakhovych, Zolotukhina and Chendei scoring further goals after combining well. The referee’s final whistle recorded a win for Shakhtar.
