Shakhtar Stalevi are marking the second anniversary of their foundation
On February 5, two years have passed since the creation of Shakhtar Stalevi. The squad includes servicemen, veterans and civilians who sustained injuries and, as a result, limb amputations during hostilities.
The main purpose behind the creation of Shakhtar Stalevi is the rehabilitation of soldiers and people with limb amputations through sport, their social adaptation and return to an active life. FC Shakhtar became the first professional football club in Ukraine to establish an amputee football team and provide it with systematic support.
Over the course of two years, the team have progressed from formation to competing in official nationwide tournaments.
A key milestone in the development of Shakhtar Stalevi was their participation in the first-ever Ukrainian Amputee Football Championship, where the Miners won the bronze medals. In addition, the team reached the final of the Super League of the League of the Mighty Spring Cup and claimed the silver medals.
Previously, in early January 2025, the Miners competed in first Ukrainian amputee football tournament within the League of the Mighty project, gaining their debut experience at official level. During the Winter Cup, the first goal in the history of Shakhtar Stalevi was also scored, with Ruslan Nedzelskyi netting it.

Shakhtar Stalevi have progressed from a group that trained primarily for communication and rehabilitation into a fully fledged sports team that strive to win and live for the club and football
Bohdan Bilko, Shakhtar Stalevi head coach:
– It can be concluded that Shakhtar Stalevi have progressed from a group that trained primarily for communication and rehabilitation into a fully fledged sports team that strive to win and live for the club and football. Despite all the difficulties, we continue to make progress and fight for victories, with the aim of one day becoming champions of Ukraine. Our first wins became an incredible boost, as the road towards them was very difficult and gradual, and the team had to overcome serious psychological challenges caused by defeats. The most memorable moment was the Spring Cup, where we reached the final and won the silver medals. Initiatives such as Shakhtar Stalevi are extremely important because people have the opportunity to move forward and fulfil their potential despite all the circumstances. We want to continue bringing joy to our fans through our matches and keep working hard towards becoming champions of the country.
Shakhtar Stalevi are part of the club’s social strategy and an example of how football contributes to the rehabilitation and support of people who have faced severe challenges.
