Shakhtar youth team players are working on restoring match fitness
Following medical checks and Yo-Yo tests, Shakhtar U19 footballers continue to build optimal physical condition, training twice a day at the Academy facility in Shchaslyve. Sessions are structured so that mornings focus on aerobic and strength work to improve physical conditioning, while evenings shift the emphasis to ball work and game exercises.
On Friday, January 16, the morning session began in the gym, where Oleksii Bielik’s lads worked all muscle groups before moving to the indoor arena for running drills. The evening session was intense, and after an extended warm-up, the Miners carried out ball work in small groups.
Dmytro Strilchuk, defender:
– We train twice a day: in the morning the focus is mainly on physical preparation, while in the evening we concentrate on ball work. I personally prefer the evening sessions, as working with the team on the ball is much more enjoyable than running. As for my mood, I’m really happy to be back in the training process. There’s a great atmosphere in the squad, and it’s clear that everyone has missed each other. Soon we’ll play a friendly against Obolon U19, which will be a good opportunity to test our teamwork in the first weeks of the camp before heading to Türkiye. In the future, we aim to stay at the top of the table and avoid dropping points.

Next week, on January 22, Shakhtar youth team will play their first pre-season friendly against their Obolon counterparts. The match will take place at the FC Shakhtar Academy indoor facility, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00.
