Picking Shakhtar’s best goal of the past 8 years
The Super Goal Battle continues and fans are invited to determine the most spectacular and the most important goal among those that won the annual Goal Battle polls. The semi-final pairs have been formed after the first stage of voting.
Mudryk vs Kovalenko
The incredible goal by midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk in Shakhtar’s UEFA Champions League group stage match against Scottish side Celtic, scored in 2022, received 3,603 votes, beating the strike by Brazilian Alan Patrick against Benfica in the 2020 Europa League clash, which earned 958 votes.
In the other pair, winner of the very first season of the Goal Battle Viktor Kovalenko and his spectacular long-ranger against Dynamo in 2018 collected 3,326 votes, surpassing the best goal of 2024 scored by Shakhtar U17 footballer Oleksandr Chornenkyi (2,018 votes).
Rakitskyi vs Newertton
The unusual goal by Yaroslav Rakitskyi, scored with his back in the 2023 Europa League match against Feyenoord, received the highest number of votes (4,097), leaving another goal by Alan Patrick, which the Brazilian scored in the 2021 Ukrainian Clasico, out of the competition (2,036 votes).
Another semi-finalist was the winner of the 2025 Goal Battle, Newertton, whose spectacular and decisive shot in the match against Dynamo was favoured by 3,547 fans. This allowed the Brazilian to surpass an equally beautiful goal by Shakhtar legend Taras Stepanenko, scored in the 2019 derby against the same Kyiv side (2,469 votes).
Voting in the semi-finals will take place on January 6-7 on Shakhtar’s official Instagram page.
