Picking Shakhtar’s best goal of the past 8 years
The traditional Super Goal Battle project has reached its final stage. After two rounds of voting, fans selected two participants for the tournament’s decisive showdown from a shortlist of eight of the most spectacular and most important goals that had won the annual Goal Battle polls.
Mudryk vs Rakitskyi
The first finalist is Mykhailo Mudryk and his spectacular goal against Scottish side Celtic in the UEFA Champions League match in autumn 2022, which received 1,906 votes in the semi-finals, beating Viktor Kovalenko’s equally impressive against Dynamo in 2018 (1,314 votes). Incidentally, Kovalenko had won all previous Super Goal Battles, so this year promises a new champion.
The second finalist is Yaroslav Rakitskyi with his acrobatic goal scored with his back against Dutch side Feyenoord in the Europa League play-offs in March 2023. In the semi-finals, 1,823 fans voted for him, allowing him to surpass Nеwertton, the winner of the 2025 Goal Battle, whose incredible shot in the Ukrainian Clasico received slightly fewer votes (1,439).
The final vote starts today, January 8, on Shakhtar’s official Instagram page.
