Shakhtar U19 played a friendly against Kolos U19 as part of their preparations for the new season
Shakhtar U19 head coach Maksym Malyshev named the following starting line-up: Stepanov was in goal, Pylypiuk, Bytsyk, Onishchuk and Koman played in defence, Shukalovych, Trokhym and Voloshko started in midfield, Kuriachyi and Safonov were on the wings, with Haponenko leading the line.
A challenging but informative first half
The opening stages were defined by a battle for possession and control of the midfield, with Kolos having the upper hand: they took the lead as early as the 4th minute when Sudakov won possession, spotted the goalkeeper well off his line and spectacularly found the net from almost 40 metres. The Orange-and-Blacks responded by looking for more ways through to the Kolos U19 goal, with Haponenko posing the biggest threat in the penalty area. However, the defenders were quick to deal with each of his attempts to create danger. The Miners enjoyed more possession, though they created very few clear-cut chances. The closest they came was Trokhym's effort from outside the penalty area, which flew over the crossbar. The Kovalivka outfit finished the first half strongly and added two more goals before the break, with Chernenko completing his brace.
A decisive second half
After the break, Shakhtar U19 took control of the game, dominating possession and spending more time in the opposition half as they looked to create openings through short passing. The first real chance fell to Safonov, who carried the ball down the flank before cutting inside the penalty area, but his effort went straight at the goalkeeper. The Orange-and-Blacks threatened again from a corner, with Nyzhnyk reacting well to the loose ball, only to fire wide from a promising position. Despite Kolos' compact defending, the Pitmen kept up the pressure and eventually pulled one back: after a knockdown from a teammate, Bida timed his run perfectly and guided the ball into the net with a first-time finish. A few minutes later, the Miners scored again as Bida was once more on target, finishing off another attack to cut the deficit to one. The closing stages were tense, and in the dying minutes, Abramov rescued a draw for his side, making the final score 3-3.
