Shakhtar midfielder Bruninho shared his thoughts after the team's first summer pre-season friendly against Rudes (5-0)
– How would you assess Shakhtar's first match? What stood out the most?
– The conclusions are fairly brief, but substantial. I liked the way Shakhtar dominated possession and tried to control the game. I think we had a very good share of the ball. Compared with my experience in Brazil, one thing that stands out is that opponents leave you much less space.
– You've been with Shakhtar for a few weeks now. How is your adaptation going and what can you say about your personal conversations with your teammates?
– To be honest, I haven't had the chance to speak one-to-one with many of the lads yet, but I've already come to understand the values Shakhtar stand for: first and foremost, to give the ball away as little as possible, to value every moment we have the ball and not to keep possession for possession's sake, but to use it effectively to create goalscoring chances.
– The team had put in a significant amount of physical and running work before the first friendly. How demanding was it for you?
– Yes, it really was very demanding, especially during the first week. I spent that time getting used to it and I'm still adapting to the physical demands. We still have more friendlies ahead of us, so I hope we'll finish the training camp on a positive note.
– You scored twice in the first friendly. How many goals will Bruninho score in competitive matches and what can the fans expect from you this season?
– It all depends on me, of course. My aim is to score as many goals as possible.
