Shakhtar women’s team hosted Kolos in their first home match of the Prime League
Head coach of the Orange-and-Blacks Roman Zaiev selected the following starting line-up: Ustinova was in goal, Balatska, Henyk, Kotovets and Sikorska operated in defence, Mokhnach, Kuksa and Holovach appeared in midfield, Druzhchenko and Zavidova played on the wings, with Veherych leading the line.
Playing on the counter
Shakhtar footballers created an early chance in front of Keliushyk's goal, but Druzhchenko's effort from outside the penalty area flew over the crossbar. The Kovalivka side responded immediately, pinned the Miners back in their own half and came close to taking the lead when Semkiv struck the post following a set-piece routine. The match was then interrupted by an air raid alert in Kyiv Oblast. After play resumed, Kolos continued to dictate the tempo and threatened Ustinova's goal mainly through the flanks. A promising chance came in the 26th minute when Fedorenko volleyed Ostapiv's cross just wide of the post. Shakhtar focused on playing on the counter, looking to trouble the hosts by winning possession and launching quick attacks. However, Kolos broke the deadlock in the 34th minute as Fedorenko got on the end of Tian's pass and found the back of the net.
Lively half
Shakhtar began the second half with another dangerous attack on the Kolos goal, created by Druzhchenko, but Keliushyk reacted well to deny her diving effort. The Miners were more lively than they had been before the break and spent more time in the Kovalivka side's half, but it was the visitors who came closest to scoring again. After Kotiash intercepted the ball, beat Ustinova and shot, Balatska produced a superb goal-line clearance with a sliding challenge to keep the deficit at one. However, it did not take Kolos long to double their advantage. Lespukh was in the right place to react to the loose ball and steered it into the net. Neither side created any clear-cut chances in the closing stages.
0-2 – Shakhtar women’s team lost to Kolos. The Orange-and-Blacks will face Ladomyr away from home in the next round on August 1.
