On July 26, the Miners played a friendly against Bursaspor in Türkiye
Shakhtar head coach Arda Turan named the following starting XI for the fifth and final game of the summer pre-season: Tvardovskyi started in goal, Matviienko and Bondar played at centre-back, Vinicius Tobias and Pedro Henrique were deployed as the full-backs, Nazaryna, Marlon Gomes and Pedrinho lined up in midfield. Alisson and Newertton operated on the wings, with Traore leading the attack.
The match attracted huge interest from Turkish fans, with the 43,000-seat Atatürk Spor Kompleksi Matlı Stadyumu packed.
Even contest with chances, but no goals
The match got off to an open start, although the Miners looked the more dangerous side in the early stages. Nazaryna's powerful free-kick was blocked by the defence, Marlon Gomes headed a cross wide, while Alisson's effort from the edge of the box was comfortably gathered by the goalkeeper. The hosts responded with a number of long-range efforts, but most of them were well off target. Their only real threat came when Emir Kaan struck from outside the penalty area, sending the ball just wide of the post. Alisson then had an excellent chance midway through the half, firing from around 13 metres, but a deflection off a defender sent the ball past the left post. Soon afterwards, at the other end, Tvardovskyi came to the Pitmen’s rescue with a fine save to deny Boutrah's effort from the edge of the D.
The Miners on top, but unable to find the finish
The second half started with a dangerous chance in the Ukrainian side's penalty area: Lincoln fired from a tight angle inside the box, but Tvardovskyi once again made the save before Matviienko cleared off the line. The Miners soon created an opportunity, as Traore, Newertton and Alisson combined neatly, only for the latter to send his finish off target. In the 62nd minute, Arda Turan decided to freshen up his side by bringing on Ghram, Bondarenko, Mendoza, Lucas and Kaua Elias. The Brazilian striker almost made an immediate impact, but his effort was blocked by the Bursaspor defence. Pedro Henrique then had a good opportunity after winning the ball near the opposition penalty area and curling a long-ranger towards the left post, only for the goalkeeper to turn it behind for a corner. In the 75th minute, the Orange-and-Blacks made another triple substitution, with Marlon Santos, Karavaiev and Tsukanov coming on. The best chance of the match fell to Gleiker Mendoza, whose powerful shot from the left side of the penalty area flashed centimetres wide of the far post. Tsukanov had a similar opportunity shortly afterwards, but his long-range effort also drifted narrowly wide. Gocholeishvili and young goalkeeper Vladyslav Chympoiesh came on for the closing stages, with the latter making his first appearance for the senior team.
