Shakhtar Social and ECOGAME: a new international project

Shakhtar’s charitable foundation, together with European partners, is implementing an innovative environmental and sports initiative
Shakhtar Social is implementing the international ECOGAME project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme and aimed at combining sports education and environmental awareness for children aged 8 to 12.
ECOGAME is the first initiative where children’s training sessions in popular sports (football, volleyball and swimming) are transformed into a tool for developing environmental awareness. The main goal is to teach the new generation to care for the environment not through theory or lectures, but through dynamic games, physical activity and teamwork.
The project is being implemented through a strategic partnership between three countries, with Shakhtar Social serving as its coordinator and leader in Ukraine. The key European partners are the leading research institution Instytut Rozwoju Sportu i Edukacji (IRSiE) (Warsaw, Poland) and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) (Athens, Greece). The programme also includes the Vinnytsia Territorial Sports Organisation Kolos (TSO Kolos) (Vinnytsia, Ukraine). The initiative has been officially supported by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), operating within the powers delegated by the European Commission.
The first practical sessions on sports grounds using the new European methodology will start in July this year. Children will take part in training eco-modules, each supported by an important environmental message and interactive activities.
