Shakhtar women’s team hosted Kryvbas in the final round of the Vyshcha League first stage
Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev made extensive rotations after the match against Metalist 1925 and named the following starting line-up: Karban was in goal, Lutsan, Balatska, Kravchuk and Shevtsova played in defence, Kuksa, Myronenko and Starukhina appeared in midfield, Marchenko and Chaika operated on the wings, with Druzhchenko leading the attack.
Active Druzhchenko opens the scoring
The start of the match was lively: after Oliinichenko’s shot, Shakhtar responded with a series of efforts from Druzhchenko, but the deadlock remained unbroken. However, in the 10th minute, the match was suspended for about 20 minutes due to an air raid alert in the Kyiv region. After the resumption, Shakhtar players took the initiative and controlled the ball in the Kryvyi Rih side's half, periodically threatening Soloviova’s goal. Druzhchenko was particularly active, repeatedly finding herself in shooting positions, though it did not lead to a precise effort for a long time. Eventually, in the 25th minute the hosts took the lead following a corner: Druzhchenko won the aerial challenge and headed the ball on target. Kryvbas became more active, held possession for a while and tried to get closer to Karban’s goal, but Shakhtar defenders blocked their attempts. Towards the end of the half, Chaika came close to doubling the Miners’ lead, but Soloviova reacted to her shot.
A competitive half
The start of the second half passed in positional play, the opponents exchanged forays and pressed each other, trying to quickly win the ball and launch attacks. Chaika had a promising opportunity to extend the lead when she struck from a set piece, but the ball hit the post. In the 62nd minute, Shakhtar women’s head coach Roman Zaiev refreshed the line-up with a double substitution, bringing on Zolotukhina and Holovach. Soon after winning the ball back, Marchenko had her chance, but her long-range r struck the crossbar. The Orange-and-Blacks increased their aggression and moved the ball more quickly into the final third. Vykaliuk and Chaika found themselves in good positions, but Kryvbas were once again saved from conceding by their goalkeeper.
