Shakhtar women's team faced Seasters on the Vyshcha League second stage MD2
Shakhtar women’s team head coach Roman Zaiev selected the following line-up for the clash with Seasters: Ustinova was in goal, Lutsan, Henyk and Kravchuk formed the defence, Sikorska, Kotovets, Kuksa, Myronenko and Starukhina appeared in midfield, Marchenko and Holovach played on the flanks, with Chaika spearheading the attack.
Attempt to withstand the pressure
The match started with a dangerous chances for Seasters following a set piece: Maiborodina delivered the ball to the far post, where Pantsulaia, getting free from her marker, was first to it, but Ustinova reacted to the shot with a save. The Odesa side tried to reach shooting positions, but Shakhtar defenders were well positioned and blocked the attempts, clearing the ball out of play. It was after a throw-in that Seasters managed to build a successful attack: Kalinina struck from distance – Ustinova reacted, but Davydenko was quickest to the rebound and hit the target with a first-time finish. After conceding, the Miners more often approached Samson’s goal, but they did not manage to produce a shot on target. Seasters continued to control the ball and pose more threats to Ustinova’s goal. In the 38th minute, they doubled their lead with a precise half-volley from Maiborodina. It did not take long for Maiborodina to score again after a run down the flank and a shot into the very corner of the net.

After the break, Shakhtar made a double substitution: Druzhchenko and Balatska came on in place of Lutsan and Kravchuk. The second half started more actively for the Orange-and-Blacks, who tried to control possession, but the Odesa-based team again looked more dangerous. In the 59th minute, Kalinina had a good opportunity to extend the lead, but she failed to beat Ustinova one-on-one. Shakhtar players focused on defensive play and counterattacks, while Seasters continued to threaten mainly from set pieces. Towards the end, Shakhtar women’s team coach refreshed the midfield: Zolotukhina, Zavidova, and later Liakhovych came on. The final minutes passed in a balanced contest with no scoring chances.
