Shakhtar Stalevi defeated Pokrova AMP-2 in the Ukrainian Amputee Football Cup Round of 16
On Sunday, March 8, Shakhtar Stalevi began the new season with a match against Pokrova AMP-2 in the Ukrainian Amputee Football Cup Round of 16, organised by the Ukrainian Association of Football as part of the League of the Mighty social project.
The tournament, which brings together 16 teams and is played in a knockout format – from the round of 16 to the final four in Kyiv – is the second-largest national cup competition in amputee football in the world in terms of scale and number of participants.
Shakhtar Stalevi Donetsk U19 1-0 (1-0) Pokrova AMP-2 Lviv
Goal: 1-0 Romaniuk (5′)
Shakhtar Stalevi: Semeniuk, Mykhasiuk (c), Volynets, Artiukh, Romaniuk, Nedzelskyi, Klymchuk
From the opening minutes, the battle for the initiative unfolded in every area of the pitch, which led to fouls from both sides. Eventually, the main danger at both ends mostly came from set pieces, and the Orange-and-Blacks were more effective in this aspect: Nedzelskyi struck the post with a powerful shot, while Romaniuk, choosing the right position, beat his opponents to the rebound and fired past the goalkeeper.
After that, the Miners had more possession and threatened Korobkin’s goal on several occasions. Pokrova AMP-2 responded with quick counterattacks of their own, with Semeniuk rescuing the Miners a few times. Towards the end of the match, the Lviv side pushed forward in attack against the Pitmen’s goal, but the defenders acted in a disciplined manner and held on to the winning score.

We secured the win, and the lads are pleased even though not everything we planned worked out
Dmytro Mykhasiuk, defender:
– We prepared for this match. According to the draw, we got tough opponents. We secured the win, and the lads are pleased even though not everything we planned worked out. We felt some pressure, as it was the first match of the new season and we had to give our maximum. Throughout the competition we need to show our potential and delight the fans with our play.
