Shakhtar youth team faced their Obolon counterparts in the U19 National League round 28 in Shchaslyve
Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik made extensive changes to the starting line-up compared to the previous match and selected the following XI for the game against Obolon U19: Chympoiesh was in goal, Kaliuzhnyi and Reshetnikov played on the full-back positions, Kostiuk and Mylokost operated in central defence, Bundash, Chornenkyi and Tsukanov formed the midfield, Harmash and Strilchuk were deployed on the wings in attack, with Kanteh leading the line.
Control of the game and a comfortable lead before the break
The Pitmen started the match with aggressive high pressing, trying to catch the opponents out when playing from the back. Already in the 6th minute, they had a great chance to open the scoring: Kanteh intercepted a pass aimed at the goalkeeper of the Brewers and set up Chornenkyi for a finish, but his shot was blocked by defenders, while Tsukanov’s follow-up attempt was dealt with by Stashkiv. Soon after, Kanteh had another promising opportunity, shooting towards the far corner from a good position after a set piece, but the Obolon U19 goalkeeper was well positioned. Another chance fell to Chornenkyi who escaped his marker during a corner and headed onto the post. Eventually, Shakhtar U19 turned their chances into a goal in the 23rd minute: Tsukanov carried the ball through the central area with skill and released Kanteh one-on-one, with the forward calmly converting. Strilchuk and Mylokost could have doubled the lead immediately, but both efforts went over the bar. The Brewers created their first real chance in the 30th minute, when Korkh attempted a lob over Chympoiesh, but the goalkeeper reacted well. In the 32nd minute, the visitors were reduced to ten men: Titov received a second yellow card for a foul on Strilchuk and was sent off. Just five minutes later, Shakhtar took advantage of the numerical superiority, and Strilchuk extended the lead, beating his opponent in the penalty area and finishing into the bottom corner.
Secured advantage
At half-time, Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik made a double substitution, with Zubrii and Balakai coming on. The second half began with a goal from the Miners: Kostiuk found himself at the far post during a corner, adjusted well to the high ball and headed it on target. The Orange-and-Blacks continued to play fluidly in the Obolon half and threaten Stashkiv’s goal, while Obolon U19 responded with occasional counterattacks after interceptions, but Shakhtar U19’s defenders remained disciplined and did not allow the opponents to approach Chympoiesh’s goal. In the 71st minute, the Pitmen produced another scoring move: Petruk surged down the flank and delivered a cross into the danger area, where Balakai was first to the ball and scored. Towards the end, Balakai could have completed a brace with a shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball struck the crossbar. The closing minutes were played in Obolon U19’s half under Shakhtar U19 control.
