Children taking part in the Come On, Let's Play! project led the teams onto the pitch for the Shakhtar vs Obolon match
On May 13, ahead of the UPL fixture between Shakhtar and Obolon, boys and girls from the Come On, Let's Play! project led the footballers onto the pitch at the Arena Lviv during the pre-match ceremony. Young athletes from Lviv, Dobrotvir, Sheptytskyi, Kamianka-Buzka, Burshtyn, Mykulychyn and Kobleve took part in the event.
For the children, it was a special occasion, an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a Ukrainian championship match and stand alongside professional players, which provides additional motivation to do sport and helps shift their focus in the conditions of war.
Nazar, a Come On, Let's Play! participant in Sheptytskyi:
– I’m from the Donetsk region and started playing football thanks to the Come On, Let's Play! project in Sheptytskyi. The emotions from the event are incredible! It was a great pleasure to see Arda Turan as I know he was an outstanding player. I support Shakhtar and wish the team as many victories as possible and a return to Donetsk.
The Come On, Let's Play! project is implemented by Shakhtar Social together with general partner DTEK. The initiative currently operates in 27 localities across Ukraine, with 27 functioning training grounds. More than 1,400 boys and girls from 7 to 12 years old participate in the project.
