Shakhtar Social and DTEK have opened a new Come On, Let's Play! project location in Irpin, Kyiv Oblast
On May 16, the official opening of a football pitch took place in Irpin, with the first training session conducted by former FC Shakhtar player Andrii Vorobei. The young players also received souvenirs and autographs from the club star. The first group of children has already been formed and registration is ongoing.
Vitalii Shaida, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids General Director:
– In 2024, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids and the Shakhtar Social charitable foundation opened a pitch in Bilohorodka, and the team from there went on to become champions of the Come On, Let's Play! tournament among 10 children’s teams from across Ukraine. That is why I’m confident that we will soon hear about new champions from Irpin as well. Sport is a school of life, and football teaches friendship, teamwork and support. I’m glad to be part of a project that gives children the opportunity to develop and experience the joy of training. May every goal be a big step into these children’s future, their start towards the Champions League.
Come On, Let's Play! is the flagship social project of Shakhtar Social implemented with the support of the general partner DTEK. The initiative aims to develop youth football, promote an active lifestyle and support children during the war.
Sofiia, a participant in Come On, Let's Play! in Irpin:
– At the opening of the pitch, we played football and I really enjoyed it. Football is my hobby, even though I have not often had the chance to practise it. I like playing, running and catching balls in goal.
Dmytro, a participant in Come On, Let's Play! in Irpin:
– I really enjoyed the training session; there were many children and interesting exercises. I have been playing football for over seven years. I like scoring and providing assists, as well as playing as a central midfielder, and above all – winning.
Andrii Babeshko, Director of the Shakhtar Social charitable foundation:
– Today, more than 60 children attended the first training session. This is the best confirmation of how much children love football and how important this project is for every child, family and the community as a whole. We are delighted that we were able to give children such emotions and the opportunity to do what they love. Together with DTEK, we sincerely believe that it is on such pitches that the path of future football stars begins.
Overall, the project spans dozens of towns and communities across Ukraine, with more than 1,400 children aged 7–12 taking part in training sessions.
