Shakhtar midfielder Artem Bondarenko shared his impressions of the win over Dynamo in a comment to UPL.TV
– Artem, beating Dynamo is great and beating them twice in a season is even better. What are your impressions after the final whistle?
– I’m very happy that we won. As you said, beating Dynamo is great, especially in Kyiv. There is a good atmosphere here and a real football celebration, so we are very happy.
– Let’s recall the match timeline and Matvii Ponomarenko’s stunning strike. Did it unsettle Shakhtar, and were you not shaken by how the game unfolded?
– It is unpleasant to concede such goals, almost out of nothing. However, it is worth noting the quality of the goal – it was at an incredible level. For us, the main thing was to calm the game down and bring it under our control.
– It is interesting what the conversation with the coaching staff was like at half-time as Shakhtar improved significantly in the second half, which was reflected in the final result.
– In the first half we made a lot of simple mistakes, which are not typical for us, but as the coaching staff emphasised, the most important thing was to stay calm and play our own game.
– The coach looked fairly calm after the goals, but after the final whistle both the bench and the coaching staff showed incredible emotions. Is this not just a win, but perhaps the scent of gold medals?
– There is still one win left until the title, but Dynamo are incredibly important rivals and we were truly happy to win here.
– At the moment, everyone is talking about Shakhtar’s tough schedule due to travel and European fixtures, yet you are still managing to beat Dynamo. Can you describe this period? Can it be called the best in your career?
– It can be described as a survival marathon; that would be more accurate. We arrived late in the evening the day before yesterday and now we are immediately getting on a train and moving on. However, that is the situation, and I think a European semi-final is a privilege, so it is our job and we will not complain. We are happy that our league results are not suffering and we continue to win.
