Shakhtar U19 head coach Oleksii Bielik’s comments after the defeat to Dynamo U19
– We lost 1-4, it is embarrassing. We can talk about many things, but I will not do that now. I take full responsibility, as it turns out I did not prepare, did not teach and did not train the players properly. I take responsibility for this result. We will try to respond to this defeat with results in the next matches. There is a lot to say, but I will keep silent for now.
– Despite the defeat to the main rivals, Shakhtar U19 remain top of the table. What conclusions should the team draw to get through the final stage of the championship successfully?
– It is difficult to say anything straight after the match. I will sound obvious: based on the game against Dynamo U19, we must improve in all aspects. This was not the team that played against Polissia U19, LNZ U19 and Kudrivka U19. We did not just play below our level – we were not ourselves, both as a team and individually. That is my shortcoming and my gap. We are still in first spot and, despite the negative result, I want to let off some steam and prepare properly for the final matches. After the season, we will speak openly about everything – what is happening in the U19 team and how the Academy is working.
– Was there an honest conversation with the players after the match?
– We had an honest conversation at half-time, when we were 0-2 down. After the match… What kind of honest conversation could there be? I calmly told the players that I could not find the right words and did not feel what I should speak about. Of course, there is a lot to say, but those are emotions, and first of all, I want to analyse it and start with myself.
