The “Miners tried to establish possession in the opposing half and looked for ways into the final third, combining through the flanks, while Vorskla threatened Ustinova’s goal from corner kicks. Eventually, the score was opened in the 20th minute: Balatska found the net after a cross and a won aerial challenge in the goal aera. Despite conceding, the rivals were not discouraged and began to mount their own attacks. Radionova came close to equalising, beating the defenders, but she could not beat Ustinova. The Orange-and-Blacks also had a chance when Chaika delivered a pass into the final third to Druzhchenko, but the forward lacked accuracy. By the end of the first half, the hosts had territorial advantage, while Kotovets tested Kharchenko with a long-range effort.
A productive half
After the break, the coaching staff made a double substitution in the attacking line: Marchenko and Veherych came on. The second half again started with danger near Vorskla’s goal, when Chaika delivered an accurate pass from the flank to Zavidova, but the winger struck off target at first touch. The Poltava-based side, following the pattern of the first half, again created a chance from a corner kick – Tarasiuk struck the ball on the volley straight into the goalkeeper’s hands. The Orange-and-Blacks were under pressure but managed to play out from the back effectively, using long passes. Thus, in the 56th minute, Shakhtar produced a fast attacking move, which was finished with a precise shot by Chaika. Two minutes later, Chaika was close to scoring a brace when she met a cross with a header, but the crossbar denied her. Shakhtar did not slow down and continued to press Kharchenko’s goal. In the 65th minute, Zavidova read the situation well, reacted first to the rebound and fired a powerful shot from under a defender into the bottom corner, making it 3-0. Later, Vorskla took control of the ball and circulated possession in Shakhtar’s half, while their only real threat to Ustinova’s goal came from Levytska hitting the crossbar.
