The live broadcast will be available on UPL.TV

Match build-up

With a positive result in the match, Shakhtar can secure the championship title early, which would be the 16th in the club’s history. The Miners currently lead the Premier League confidently with 63 points (goal difference 61-17), while remaining unbeaten in the league for 17 matches in a row. In the previous round, Arda Turan’s side came from behind to beat Dynamo in the Ukrainian Clasico (2-1), with Lucas and Lassina Traore on the scoresheet. This week in London, Shakhtar ended their European campaign at the semi-final stage of the UEFA Conference League with a match against England’s Crystal Palace. The team’s top scorers are Kaua Elias (11 goals, 7 assists), Luka Meirelles (10/2) and Eguinaldo (9/3).

Opponents

Poltava are making their debut in the UPL, but it seems unlikely they will manage to stay in the top flight. After 26 matches, they have recorded 2 wins, 6 draws and 18 defeats, and currently sit bottom of the table with 12 points (goal difference 23-66). The Citizens are eight points adrift of 14th spot, which ensures survival. In the previous round, Pavlo Matviichenko’s side played out an entertaining draw with Kryvbas (3-3), but their winless run in the league has now extended to 12 matches. Their top scorer is Maksym Marusych (4 goals, 1 assist).

Match background and previous meeting

Shakhtar and Poltava have met once in the Ukrainian Championship – in the first half of the UPL season at Arena Lviv on November 9, 2025. The Miners dominated completely and scored seven goals. Marlon Gomes opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, and in the 17th minute Pedrinho doubled the lead from the penalty spot. At the start of the second half, Poltava pulled one back through Denys Halenkov. However, from that point on only Shakhtar scored: Eguinaldo and Oleksandr Ocheretko extended the lead, before Newertton, Yukhym Konoplia and Kaua Elias added further goals late on. 7-1 – a comprehensive win for the Orange-and-Blacks.
