Shakhtar U19 head coach Maksym Malyshev reflected on the victory over Metalurh U19 and shared his expectations for the final matches of the first part of the championship
– Every victory is important, and achieving one is hard – it requires giving your absolute all. The guys showed character, for which I am grateful and give them full credit. In the game against Metalurh U19, we played as one, everyone contributed to this win. It is crucial for the team to share a common vision and remain united. We stayed confident after conceding a goal, understanding that such matches happen. The most important thing is the reaction to conceding a goal, and ours was good and effective.
– Shakhtar U19 scored after deep passes. Were these practised combinations?
– We prepared for the match and analysed our opponents, who primarily employ one-on-one play in the central part of the pitch. We knew we had to use the space behind the opponents. We practise the appropriate actions and utilize the space between the lines – this is a main requirement of our principles of play. We prepared well, the guys followed the instructions. Of course, these combinations had been practised during the training process.
– The final matches of the first part of the season lie ahead. What will the preparation and mindset be like for these encounters?
– We stick to our playing principles and will prepare as usual. We must be aggressive, press and control the ball, regardless of the opponent we are facing. The guys know that hard work and an obsession with football are always rewarded.
