The girls followed the game plan

– After our previous game ended, we began focused preparations for the encounter with Polissia. We understand the challenges posed by opponents like Kolos and Polissia, so we approach these matches responsibly. It is clear that the girls wanted to win; we prepared for the meeting with the mindset of being patient, as we knew that Polissia, given their position in the standings, would fight hard for points to keep pace with the leaders. We knew there would be pressure, so we chose a tactical plan based on defending and counter-attacking. In the first half, we had three one-on-ones; had we converted those opportunities, the game might have been easier, and the result could have been different. However, the match was decided in the final minutes. I am very grateful to the girls for withstanding the pressure and finding a way to score a fantastic goal, in my opinion. I congratulate them on a well-deserved victory!

– In the first half, Shakhtar had three one-on-ones and forced their opponents to make a substitution before the break. Does this indicate that the right tactics were chosen?
– As for the opponent’s substitutions, the reasons behind them could vary. We deliberately conceded half the pitch to the opponents, as we understood that there would be open spaces there, we tried to expand them to be able to develop counter-attacks, and we succeeded. The girls followed the game plan.

– The final stretch of the first half of the season lies ahead. What will the preparation and expectations be like?
– I want to emphasise that we have a brand name. Just as the club sets the most ambitious goals for itself, we, the women’s team, are no exception. Regardless of the opponent we face, we will build our game with the intention to win. How successful we are in this will depend largely on how the match itself unfolds. We will prepare and strive to do our absolute best to climb the standings and start the spring part of the competition more confidently.
